William Eugene "Gene" Hurston

Mr. William “Gene” Hurston, 81, of Tallassee, passed away April 16, 2020. He was born April 25, 1938.

Due to the constraints brought about by the current coronavirus outbreak, a private funeral service will be held. Friends may join the service via Facebook live at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Ann Hurston; son, Timothy Allen Flowers (Emily); grandchildren, Julia Anne Flowers and Abigale Lee Flowers; brother, Billy Joe Hurston and a large, loving, extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Birdie Hurston; brothers, Samuel Bishop Hurston and Harold Earl Hurston; sisters, Thelma Louise Day, Letha Mae Hurston, Frances Jeanette Hudson and Betty Lou Thornton.

Gene was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. His hobbies were gardening and fishing and he enjoyed spending time with his family.
