Steven Roy Hammonds

Mr. Steven R. Hammonds, 67, of Tallassee passed away August 17, 2020. He was born December 4, 1952.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, August 20 at 10 am at East Tallassee Church of Christ with Michael McElroy and Chris Tidwell officiating. Burial will follow at Elam Cemetery with military honors, Linville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory directing. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service, beginning at 9 am.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Priscilla Hammonds; children, Mike Hammonds, Stephanie Weldon (Dallas) and Cory Hammonds (Ashley); brother, Phil Hammonds; mother-in-law, Joyce Reeves and grandchildren, Laci Hammonds, Madeline Weldon and Luke Weldon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Virginia Hammonds and a grandson, Landon Weldon.

He was a member of East Tallassee Church of Christ where he served as Elder. He was a member of River City Band and a former Boy Scout leader. He retired from Alabama Army National Guard after 32 years of service. His hobbies were golf, watching NCIS, playing in the band and watching Atlanta Braves baseball and the Auburn Tigers. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren and all their activities. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
