Stephen Robert "Steve" Dunn, age 66, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, surrounded by love. Born November 24, 1958, Steve lived a rich life and touched countless hearts with his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering faith.
A graduate of Stone Mountain High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia, Steve earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and later completed his Master's degree at Georgia State University. His strong work ethic and leadership led him to hold executive roles at Southern Company, Coca-Cola Enterprises, and Regions Bank. After a successful career in the corporate world, Steve found a new calling in education. Wanting to make a difference, he taught mathematics to students at Coosa Middle School, Tallassee Middle School, and Stanhope High School in Alabama. His patience and encouragement left a lasting impact on his students.
Faith was a guiding light in Steve's life. A devoted member of his church, he faithfully taught Sunday School for 22 years and served as a Gideon, sharing his passion for service and scripture. Outside of church and career, Steve was an avid hunter, golfer, and loyal Georgia Bulldogs fan-always ready to cheer on his Dawgs.
Steve is survived by his beloved daughter, Samantha Jo Dunn; his loving sister Debbie Peavy (Charlie); his brother Phil Dunn (Denise); and his nieces Alesia McMillan (Alex), Emma Dunn, Ashley White (Andrew), Christy Jordan (Brad), and Katie Leder (Wes).
A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Claud Independent Methodist Church, 81232 Tallassee Hwy, Eclectic, AL 36024. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral and graveside services at 2:00 pm. Pastors Jason Tew and Tim Lawrence will officiate the services.
In honor of Steve Dunn, the family kindly asks that, instead of flowers, donations be made to the Children's Ministry at Claud Church - a cause that was very close to his heart. Donations can be sent via Venmo to Claud Church@Claud-Church. Please include a note that the gift is for the Claud Church Children's Ministry in memory of Steve Dunn and be sure to add your name so the family can express their appreciation.
Steve will be remembered for his strong faith, amazing smile, and the joy and laughter he brought to all he met.
