Mr. Raymond Reed, 74, a resident of Eclectic, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013. He was born October 27, 1938.
Visitation will be Friday, August 30 from 6 to 8 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 31 at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Eclectic, where he was an active member, with Rev. Chad Middlebrooks officiating. Grandsons will serve as pall bearers. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.
He is survived by his wife of eleven years, Linda Reed; daughters, Donna (Willie) Davis and Amy (Mike) Dorminey; sons, Tracy Reed, John (Rebecca) Thornton and James Thornton; sisters, Betty Jo Nolan, Flora Gathof, Sue Johnson, Kathy Riddle, Pat Wadsworth and Marjorie Nix; brother, William Blankenship; grandchildren, Blake Reed, Lindsey (John Mark) Ashcraft, Travis Reed, Chase (Jessica) Reed, Hunter Davis, Austin Dorminey, Josh Dorminey, Natalie Ledbetter, Amanda Thornton and Annie Thornton; and son-in-law, Smitty Ledbetter.
He is preceded in death by wife, Gloria Johnson Reed; father, William Blankenship; mother, Mae Belle Carlisle; daughter, Frances Ledbetter and grandson, John Martin Thornton.
He was employed 20 years as a truck driver for Majure Gas Co. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed traveling.
