Melissa Estes Ledbetter

Melissa Estes Ledbetter went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 12, 2024. She was surrounded by her family as she left this earth. Lissa was born on October 1, 1960 in Wetumpka, AL.

Lissa is preceded in death by her son, Joshua Paul Ledbetter; father, Charles Estes; mother-in-law, Clara Ledbetter; father-in-law, James Ledbetter, and brother-in-law, Arthur Ledbetter.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Paul Ledbetter; daughter, Carmen Ledbetter and only grandson, Jackson Ledbetter; mother, Betty Dunlap Estes; sister, Christina Estes Cotton (Jeff); brother-in-law, Calvin Ledbetter (Kathy); sister-in-law, Linda Fowler Ledbetter and her special Aunt Barbara Moody, along with several beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She also left behind her two Fur Babies, Duke and Mobley.

She was beautiful and so smart, a girl who made her way in a man's world. In the late 70's, early 80's, she was often, quite literally, the only female in the room-in class and at work. She was part of the first generation of females that demanded a seat at the table. She did it quietly and in her disarming manner but she demanded it just the same. She won many awards in art and design while being the kindest, sweetest person.

Lissa especially loved her grandson Jack and spent a lot of time with him. After she retired, she immersed herself in her artwork and spent many days painting to her heart's content. She was so loved and cherished and is going to be missed by so many.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Linville Memorial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Tex Grier officiating. Family and friends will be welcome at her home after the service.
