Mark Buce, 59, left this world to be with our Father in heaven on Monday, May 30, 2022. Even though a failing heart suddenly took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the community.
Mark was born to Archie and Dorothy Buce on December 16, 1962, in Montgomery, Alabama. He attended the Tallassee School System and continued his education at Auburn University in Montgomery. Destined to be an entrepreneur, Mark found great success in all of his chosen endeavors. He worked diligently at the Cotton Mill in Tallassee and went on to own a florist shop and a convenient store known as “The Y,” which ultimately led to the conception of his own prosperous and successful car dealership. It is here, that he solved many of the world’s problems with his beloved friends and community members. Naturally, he excelled as a salesman and business owner due to his sincere honesty, vast intellect and ability to quickly establish rapport with all those he met. His talents far exceeded the business world as he was also known as an excellent singer and a soothing voice to those who were the closest to him. As the years passed, his love of music grew, cultivated by his tenure at WLWI as Radio Host in Montgomery. He also graced the airwaves on his CB Radio with the two perfect handles of the “Southern Gentleman” and “Uncle Roy.”
Humble and hardworking, straightforward yet compassionate, Mark epitomized the quintessential gentleman, as a businessman, loyal friend and a devoted family man. He had many joys in life, including Alabama football and boating on Lake Martin, however, his greatest joy of his life was his family. He was a loving Husband, Father, and “Papa,” and his ultimate pride and joy were his grandchildren of whom he loved dearly.
Mark is survived by his wife, Ramona Buce along with his children, Mallory Buce, Megan Buce, Lee Thornton-Allison and Luke Ledbetter-Sadie; grandchildren, Cade, Liam, Channing, Maddy, Jaxton, Michael, Hartley and Ruby; brother, Nickey Buce (Myrtle); sister, Brenda Buce; nephew, Todd Buce (Jessica); nieces, Donna Russell, Dana Cheek and Paige Swinson. He is preceded in death by his father, Archie Buce and mother, Dorothy Buce “Momma Dot.”
Visitation will begin at 11 am with funeral service to follow at 12 noon on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Westside Independent Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Dorley officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
