Mrs. Leona "Penny" (Hall) Talley, age 92, entered eternity on January 27, 2024 from her home in Eclectic where she resided for many years.
Born on March 17, 1931, Penny was a woman of numerous talents. In the warm months of the year, she could be found cultivating her flower beds or working in her vegetable garden; while in the cooler months, she spent her past time crafting her beautiful creations as a skilled crochetier, seamstress, and quilter.
As matriarch of the family, full of knowledge and experience, her wise counsel was sought by many with a guarantee that she was always right. Penny was an avid reader who believed in constantly exercising one's mind, and a retired stenographer having spent decades in service to New York Life Insurance Company. She was a faithful member of Watson Chapel Congregational Church.
Penny was a beloved mother, grandmother (a/k/a "Mema"), aunt, and friend. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald J. "Ronnie" Talley (Tissie) of Eclectic and Michael W. "Mike" Talley of Elmore; five grandchildren, Brandon M. Talley (Lorri) of Millbrook, Christy Talley-Beasley (Shane) of Central, Brandie Talley-Weaver (Jason) of Millbrook, Becky Talley-Bolt (John) of Central and Tabitha Talley-Rone (Zach) of Montgomery; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jack M. "Happy Jack" Talley; her parents, Gus and Alton Hall; her two brothers, Rufus Hall and Fred Hall; and one step-grandson, Hunter Hall.
A graveside service will be performed on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm, in Old Watson Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Derek Frost officiating.
