Mrs. Lavern Nelson, 82, of Dadeville, passed away October 6, 2022. She was born October 19, 1939.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 10, 2022, at Union Methodist Church, Dadeville with Rev. Ross Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Chemira McGhee; husband of 38 years, Eugene Nelson; grandson, Jon Luke Haddock and great-grandson, Braden Nelson.
She is survived by her children, Chris Nelson (Christy), Angie Nelson and Gene Nelson (Leah); brother, Charles McGhee (Mary Allen); sister, Jerlene Hall (Danny); grandchildren, Bryan Nelson, Justin Nelson, Elijah Haddock, Brently Nelson and Cadie Nelson; great-grandchildren, Bryce Nelson, Alyssa Nelson, Carson Nelson, Ryker Nelson, Emmett Haddock and Trenton Jacob Haddock; and special friend, Carl Hoyt Mask.
She retired from Auburn University after over 20 years of service. She was a member of Union Methodist Church, where she served faithfully on several committees, including the cemetery committee. She will be remembered for being a neat and orderly person. She enjoyed cooking and being outside, where she could often be seen cutting grass and burning leaves. She touched the hearts of all she met and will be greatly missed.
