James Wilbur Waites

Mr. James Wilbur Waites, age 83, of Tallassee, passed away December 7, 2011. He was born May 21, 1928.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Chapel at Linville Memorial Funeral Home with Mr. Gary Clayton and Ms. Rhonda Thrower officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, with military honors, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Hepburn Waites; daughters, Pamela Chancey, Shelly Lynn and Leanne Boles; brother, John Waites; grandchildren, Josh Chancey, Jenny Hinson, Jordan Chancey, Cody Bowers, Cory Bowers, Jesse Lynn, Alex Lynn, Maria Lynn, Hunter Boles, Chase Boles and Walker Boles; and great-grandchildren, Parker Hinson, Tanner Hinson, Griffin Chancey and Jacob Bowers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Simeon and Maggie Waites; brother, George Simeon Waites “Jr.” and a sister, Margaret Waites Causey.

He was Corporal in the U. S. Army and served his country in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star. He loved his family and his grandchildren were the joy of his life. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten by his family and those whose lives he touched. “Roll Tide”.

Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home.
