Mr. James Albert Thornton, 91, of Tallassee, passed away February 19, 2020. He was born December 25, 1928.
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Smith and Rev. Jay Woodall officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Valley Station United Methodist Church Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 1 pm.
He was a member of Oak Valley Station United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church of Tallassee. His hobbies were gardening, yard work, singing and playing the guitar, reading, fishing, and hunting in his younger years. He enjoyed any activity involving his grandchildren. With so many things to say about such a great man, we want to say “we will miss you” and “looka here! looka here!”
He is survived by his daughters, Phyllis Gleason (Mike), Sherry Thrash (Claude) and Delaine Brown; sons, Chris Thornton, Mark Thornton (Barbara) and Jim Thornton (Kim); daughter-in-law, Sue Huey; 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Coats and a large loving extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Annie Mae Thornton; wife, Lillie Thornton and son, Lee Huey.
