James R. Southerland III, 28, of Equality, passed away August 21, 2020. He was born December 2, 1991.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 11 am at Frazer United Methodist Church, Montgomery, AL with Rev. T. J. Conwell officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Eclectic with Linville Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 26 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Good Hope Baptist Church, Eclectic, AL. Visitation will also be Thursday, August 27 from 10 am to 11 am at Frazer United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Stephanie Southerland; brothers, John (Hailey) Southerland and Christopher Southerland; grandparents, John and Barbara Starr, Roger and Mary Frymire and Belle Simmons; nephews, Colton Southerland, Caden Southerland and Leighton Southerland; his dog/daughter “Dixie” and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by a nephew, Maddox Southerland; grandfathers, James R. Southerland, Ronnie Jackson and Donald Simmons; and great grandmother, Kitty Norton.
He served seven years with Montgomery Police Department and was currently serving with ALEA Marine Patrol Division. He never met anyone he did not like and this was reflected in his desire to be an organ donor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to one's favorite Law Enforcement charity.
