Mr. James William “Jim” Bayles, 86, of Tallassee, passed away Sunday morning, July 20, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimers. He was born September 22, 1927 in Monroe County, Alabama.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Linville Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 23, at 3:00 pm at Chana Creek Baptist Church with Elder Durward Hornsby, Elder Jimmy Bass and Bro.John Wingard officiating. Pall bearers will be Wallace Haney, Dennis Langley, Anthony Lapore, Baron McConnell, Travis Bayles, John Bayles, Eddie Bayles and Wayne Wallace. Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Bridgman, Tom Taylor, and all of the former employees of the Jefferson St. Control Center for Alabama Power Co. Burial will follow at Chana Creek Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.
Jim was a veteran and honorably served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Alabama Power after 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Bayles; sons, Tim Bayles (Cindy) and Tom Bayles; grandsons, Travis Bayles, John Bayles and Eddie Bayles; granddaughter, Nikki Bayles; and sisters, Genell Cashion and Agile McLauren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Odell Bayles of Monroeville, AL and also his first wife, Betty Bridgman Bayles.
