Durward Moreland Hornsby, Jr.

Elder Durward M. Hornsby, Jr., 81, of Tallassee, passed away December 15, 2021. He was born September 28, 1940.

Graveside service and burial will be Friday, December 17, 2021 at 12 noon at Chana Creek Cemetery with Elder John Wingard officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Hornsby, Brandon Hornsby, Eli Pitchford, Tim Melton, Tre Side, Britt Hornsby, Pat Mason, Todd Thornton and Jonathan Ward.

He is preceded in death by his father, Durward M. Hornsby, Sr.; mother, Mary Sue Hornsby; brother, William Hornsby; and sisters, Barbara Thornton and Suellen Howie.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy R. Hornsby; children, R. Clay Hornsby (Donna), S. Wade Hornsby (Cindy), R. Michael Hornsby (Lynn), Jason Hornsby (Kathy), April D. Hornsby and Amber N. Hornsby; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He honorably served in the U. S. Navy and retired after 22 years of service. He also retired from the City of Tallassee. He served for 37 years as Primitive Baptist Preacher.
