Debra Jean McLain (Mawmaw) was born in Tallassee, AL on February 15, 1954. She went to be with our Lord on February 19, 2025, surrounded by loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Ray Bridgman and Eula Jean (Champion) and brother, Brewer Melton.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Sanford McLain, whom she met at age 18 and he remained the love of her life. Also surviving are six children and their spouses: Joely Stewart (Joe), Jason McLain, Heather Bass (Brad), Gary McLain, Shawn McLain (Rachel) and Hannah McLain; four siblings and their spouses: Pete Bridgman (Wanda), Tim Melton (Cheryl), Ronnie Melton (Jeanine) and Darryl Melton (Tammy); ten grandchildren and their spouses: Lindsey Pescia (James), Jody Hughes (Travis), Ashley Montiforte (Kyle), Lanier Stewart, Hunter Stever, Macey Stewart, Braxton McLain, Ford Bass, Dylan McLain and Lucas McLain; and eight great-grandchildren.
Debra was a devoted follower of Christ and she dedicated her life to loving her family and those who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her devotion to Christ and the practice of his love for others was displayed through her service work at Bethlehem East Baptist Church and her home, which was a safe-haven for all.
Her favorite Bible verse, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV.
Bethlehem East Baptist Church will be conducting a memorial service at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 22, 2025. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am.
