Officer David Colley, 24, of Eclectic, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 in the line of duty in Montgomery, in a traffic accident. He was born February 22, 1991.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7 from 5 to 8 pm at Good Hope Baptist Church in Eclectic. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 8 at 2 pm at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.
David was a graduate of Elmore County High School where he played football and baseball. He was a power lifting champion. David received a scholarship from Central Alabama Community College, he attended Troy University and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from Auburn University of Montgomery. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He finished the police academy in the top of his class. He pursued his dream of being a career law enforcement officer and was employed for the last two years with the Montgomery Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Darian Colley; daughter, Isabella Rose Colley; parents, Warren and Karen Colley; brothers, Jonathan Colley (Jessi) and Michael Colley (Sunnye); nephews, Manning Colley and Stetson Colley; paternal grandparents, John and Dolores Lamberth; uncles, Mack Daugherty (Mary), Wilbur Roberson (Cheryl), Allen Lamberth (Cathy), Joseph Lamberth and Donald Rush (Sue Ellen); mother-in-law, Kristina Ingram; grandmother-in-law, Janice Almond; grandparents-in-law, Johnny and Connie Cunningham; sisters-in-law, Jaeleah Ingram and Kaeleah Ingram; and a host of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jesse E. Colley; grandmother, Laura Colley Rush and grandfather, Lewis Edward Rush; and aunt, Elaine Burke.
