Carol Hammonds

Mrs. Carol Hammonds, 67, a resident of Tallassee, passed away January 5, 2012. She was born February 28, 1944.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Elam Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 pm with Minister Mike McElroy officiating. Burial in Elam Cemetery, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.

She is survived by husband of 47 years, L. Wayne Hammonds; sons, Chris (Patti) Hammonds and Richard Hammonds; mother, Lois Roye; brother, Reggie Roye; sisters, Judy Gresham and Jill Jones; and granddaughter, Sage Hammonds. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Alicia Hammonds.

Carol retired from Auburn University after 18 years of service. She was a member of the choir at Elam Baptist Church since 1971. She loved and adored her family. She was passionate about her granddaughter, followed by shopping with her friends. She especially enjoyed the challenge of answering Pete Cottle’s trivia questions each morning. She enjoyed trips to Panama City Beach to visit her son, Chris. She enjoyed cooking and was famous for her chicken and dressing at church gatherings. Carol was known for her kind heart because she always made sure everyone was happy. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. She will never be forgotten by her family and by those whose lives she touched.
