Mr. Calvin Porter, 60, of Tallassee, passed away March 19, 2020. He was born December 26, 1959.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Newkirk Porter; children, Teva Boothe (Brian), Taylor Newkirk, Lindsey Newkirk and Hayden Newkirk; grandchildren, Wrex Boothe, Fox Boothe and Margeaux Boothe; siblings, Barbara Hutson, Bobby Porter, Shirley Smith, Randy Porter, Wanda Griffin and Tammy Parish and several loving nieces and nephews.

Cal’s hobbies were self mechanicing, carpentry and general construction. He was the youngest DJ to receive his 3rd class engineer license from the FCC at the age of fourteen (14) and was highly sought after at multiple radio stations in the Houston area. Cal was featured in the Wall Street Journal for a paint design used by the Texas Forestry Department, an achievement he was so proud of. He enjoyed operating a HAM radio and was an avid fan of Texas Longhorn Football. He always put everyone else before himself. Cal was the best husband and father who was always there for his children; he was the father they needed at all times. Cal was a proud native Texan. “Hook ‘em HORNS”
