Mr. Blaine Lee McElfresh 66, of Auburn, Alabama died August 3, 2018 at Bethany House Hospice Hospital from complications with Dementia. He died peacefully surrounded by his family.
Blaine was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on July 20, 1952 to the late Blaine Curtis McElfresh and the late Mary Jane McElfresh. He was a graduate of Yough High School in Herminie, Pennsylvania. He received a B.S. Degree and an Education Specialist Degree from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama as well as a Masters Degree from West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia. He was a former School Administrator for the Griffin-Spalding County School System in Griffin, Georgia.
Blaine is survived by his wife of 41 years, Blanche McElfresh; his sister Sandy McElfresh Jones (Wayne) of Laurel Hill, Florida; daughter Leigh McElfresh Rushton (Yancey) of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and three grandchildren Conner Rushton 13, Anna Rushton 12, and Drew Rushton 9 of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The family extends appreciation to New Day Senior Care of Community Hospital in Tallassee, Alabama, Tallassee Health and Rehab, and Bethany House of Auburn, Alabama for their professionalism, compassion and exemplary care.
There will be a memorial service at Auburn United Methodist Church Chapel on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. led by Dr. Cory Smith and Reverend Julie Hare. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The REACH Ministry, a community respite program for individuals with mild to moderate dementia, housed at Auburn United Methodist Church in memory of Blaine McElfresh.
