Betty Jean Hammonds, 84, of Tallassee, passed away November 27, 2021 at Russell Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born March 27, 1937.
In honor of Betty’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held by her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd M. Hammonds; mother, Lois C. Hammonds; father, David C. Cartwright; stepfather, Walter Hammonds; sister, Blanche Matlock; brother, David F. Cartwright; stepchildren, Mary Jo Davis, Dorothy Conner and Roy Hammonds; and her pal Rusty.
She is survived by her children, Melissa Bowen (Mack), David “Butch” Hammonds (Kandy), Timothy “Tim” Hammonds (Wanda) and Becky Peters (Tracey); stepdaughter, Margaret Bunn; sister, Gloria Harper (John); eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Betty enjoyed gardening and reading, especially spending time studying her Bible.
