Art Hathcock, Jr., 68, passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2010 at his residence.He was born December 14, 1941.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Elder Joey Miller officiating and burial following, Linville Memorial Funeral Home directing.
He married Janice Furlow in 1993 and she also passed away April 18, 2010.He is survived by his mother, Frances Hammock; two sons, Art Hathcock of Wetumpka and Miles Hathcock (Angie) of Tallassee; daughter, Starr Stackpole (Tom) of San Diego, CA: stepson, Rodney Stevens of Pensacola, FL; grandsons Bruin and Bry Hathcock and granddaughters, Jessica Greer, Hunter Stackpole and Tori Stackpole.He is preceded in death by his father, Art Hathcock. Sr. and a granddaughter, Giovanna Stackpole.
Art played football as a fullback under Coach "Hot" O'Brien and graduated from Tallassee High School in 1961. He served in the U. S. Navy in Viet Nam and also the U. S. National Guard. He worked in a funeral home for many years, graduated from the Police Academy in 1979, attended the University of Tennessee Temple and served as Associate Pastor of Navco Baptist Church in Mobile, AL. He worked at the Alabama Department of Corrections for several years.
Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, April 23 at East Tallassee Church of Christ.
